Re: Protecting civilians in Idlib
Dear MP,
As your constituent, I am writing to you with regards to civilian protection in Syria, particularly in the northwest. Since last December, the Syrian regime and its allies, have been attacking the last opposition strongholds in northwestern Syria. The ongoing military campaign resulted in2500 casualties and many more injuries. About 600000 people were forcibly displaced out of their homes under the worst humanitarian conditions. People are freezing to death, it was documented in a report released in February the 13th that 167 persons died due to cold since the year of 2011.
Syrians are living in the worst humanitarian conditions, this is the biggest wave of displacement since the second world war. I am writing to you today to ask you please to take action to protect civilians. I am requesting that you bring this cause to the Parliament to discuss on a large level what the Government is doing to deal with this humanitarian crisis?
I hope that you will also raise the issue of protecting Syrian civilians to both the FCO and DFID.
